From the Album "Take this Moment..."

Track 7. New Shoes
Lyrics by Will West

This is one those old Carolina songs about pretty days and sunny people.
Come on… put your hands together.
Very nice... let’s try that one more time.

Hey ~ Yeah!
Hello to you in your new shoes, those blue shoes.
I was walking with you in those new shoes, those beautiful….
We’re gonna sing oh yeah…
When I see your light…
See these things and then we fly away.

Hey ~ Yeah!
Hello to you in your new shoes, those beautiful crews.
If I had the choice to choose, I’d sit right there and refuse to lose.

We’re gonna sing oh yeah….
When I see your light….
See these things and then we fly away.
Learn what’s right…. We learn these things when we play through the night.
Take it around one time we’ll dance!

As we play through the night…..
Play through the night….
Sometimes we gotta drop really low…. Before you  feel.
Sometimes we gotta drop really low…. Before we feel alive again.
Sometimes we gotta drop really low down to the ground …. Before you feel alive again.
Sometimes we gotta drop really low…. Before we feel… before we feel.

I was walking with you on the beautiful day and you looked that way.
And if I could control the time, I’d press rewind just to relive that day.

We’re gonna sing oh yeah….
When I see your light…. See these things and then we fly away.
Learn what’s right…. We learn these things when we play through the night.
Take it around one time we’ll dance one more time!

Song notes:

This is based off one of my oldest tunes.... and it continues to evolve in a live setting.
An early version of this song was called "Hello Shoes" on the Reconstruction album (Dec 2003).

For guitar ~~ Basically a D7 riff on the verses
(C7 chord position on the 3rd fret)

C to G chords on the breaks.
with a C harmonica.

To the Top!
